First a brief summary, since I'm the one in the possession of both parties and the 2014 Edition for two weeks relatively intensive games and Andren since the review has failed for more than originally intended:
Who has spent much time with the first version, will definitely lose in the new. The pros outweigh discreetly against the Contras but this looks any different. I can not recommend a purchase in person without a guilty conscience, because the 60 euro well spent.

Whether one of the nationwide US in-home placement study from April 2013 can give confidence according to the homepage or not, was once an open question.
But the principle works, but must also and one should not expect that it will be within a short time the next Jimi Hendrix, Van Halen, Slash, Agnus Young and Co., because it is still connected to a time-consuming and hard work.

But those who have always wanted to combine two passions, for the Rocksmith 2014 Edition right: making music / guitar or bass playing and video games.

What is the advantage of the whole? Man spends his time usefully, unlike for example FPS games, I would think.

I even call myself rather than Intermediate on the instrument. Various techniques can be implemented without great difficulty, but the virtuoso on the guitar I'm still miles away. The Rocksmith 2014 Edition as well as the predecessor to support me at this point.

The Rocksmith 2014 Edition is the second part of a possible long series of music games that use a real guitar. In this sense, I do not want to deprive Bandfuse which at 19:11. will be released in North America and a month later in Japan. An EU release will probably take place at the beginning of 2014, according to developers because the product is finished and only one publisher is searched.

But back to the product.

The original Rocksmith Real Tone Cable is required to play itself, which has also been used in the first part. Thus, one is not forced again to buy one and can already be acquired use no matter which platform you bought the first part. Whether this is the best on the market in terms of latencies, I can not judge, but it fulfills its purpose here.

Each guitar or bass with a 1/4-port can be used, whether passive or active pickups (Engl .: pick ups). Also, an acoustic guitar are plugged in, which must precisely meet the criteria previously mentioned.
As the system is now configured itself optimally to the TV and a (external) audio system, takes one in the enclosed Notice of paper on which setting you will also once again be pointed at start of the game.
I myself use only an HDMI port, which is rather suboptimal according to developers. Latency issues I can not determine, which anyway in principle subject to rather a subjective opinion, because they are perceived differently by each, however.

So what has changed compared to its predecessor?

At first glance you will notice the brighter, clearer and more user-friendly UI. In this version you start, at least not always in career mode, which unfortunately does not exist anymore here, but the main menu. For me, a big plus from the perspective of a gamer since the first Rocksmith was more curse than a blessing in terms of menu navigation.
When playing songs is to say that the way the note highways has been carried out with more attention to detail, so among other things, slides and bends were virtually revised and adapted. However, for me is not always 100% visible when chords are to be played, because the note highway this time has been kept quite dark. To make an adjustment to this bright I have until now can not find.
The Riff Repeater is now also rapidly reached, during one has started a song to play. This function is now shown more manageable. As in the predecessor, the Riff Repeater define the way with what difficulty and at what speed you want to practice. The now refers not only to a certain part of the song, but can be defined by: a part, multiple parts one after the other, or even the whole song. Furthermore, can be set how often you want to practice the corresponding difficulty / speed, whether the dynamic difficulty to engage or not, upon successful passage, the speed is to be increased, how many errors you want to allow (fault tolerance), if the song is then continued to play , past mistakes are to be displayed and if the Master mode (ie playing without sheet music) may be used where this principle one in the settings or can be switched off. In short, one has more freedom in learning than before.
It should be noted right here also that set filters remain now and not have to be made new with every restart (after recommendation that skill, difficulty, title, etc.). What I still lack is a separate search function, as you so otherwise have to constantly fight the meanwhile long list itself.

At this point I would like to interject at once that the whole thing is true both for right- and left-handed. In addition, the note highway is inverted, so that it resembles the conventional tab notation. Likewise, the video of the lessons can be reflected.

Furthermore, the Rocksmith 2014 Edition now offers a plethora of moods (Engl .: Tuning). Among them are E-Standard; Dropped-D; open E, G, A; Eb-standard; DADGAD; open D; Eb-Db Dropped; D standard; Dropped D-C; C # and C standard standard. Thus, songs can be licensed bands in the new version, using just this. Now on the other hand, the constant, annoying voices falls off before each song, unless you used a different tuning. In addition, under the settings a Quick tuner has been integrated.

As previously mentioned briefly missing in this edition to provide for no apparent reason the career mode and thus also the possibility concerts from the perspective of Gamers simply incomprehensible because a campaign belongs in my opinion to do so. However, it is worth mentioning that a kind location can be set in the background, if you want it. Here, therefore, the living room / loft of changes while playing. But nevertheless the feeling from the first part I miss.

What instead has Rocksmith 2014?
Very high on the list is of course the Session Mode. A virtual band accompanies their own games. In this area you can now play along to preset bands or themselves configure their band. For this purpose a wide range of guitars, bass, drums, keys and other available. Because I just do not know exactly, I say that there are likely to be well over 50 instruments, but can be accompanied only by four other instruments. The setting is quite arbitrary here. Thus, for the keynote, the scale, complexity, the pace, the groove, the virtual location (which is likely to affect only sound, not visually) adjust, for example. For details you can refer to digital manual. One shortcoming, since this is not printed is available. Also it should be mentioned that I have not discovered yet the possibility that alternative tunings are supported correctly.

Score-Attack:
This feature provides four fixed levels, which especially for those who might be a plus, which will find the dynamic difficulty modest. Easy, Medium, Heavy and after successful Gold in the main master level, where one plays blind. The score is based on precision and timing, with a low error tolerance has been implemented (three red crosses and you must start from the beginning). This can be measured also in leaderboards with other players, but only to their respective platforms. Even Uplay gives no remedy.

The sound designer has with the new version a wider range, and if I remember correctly more storage options than just three. This is because now are Marshall, Orange and Eden contractors. Anyone who has ever been employed with amplifier, is noted here quickly that the price-performance ratio has been 60 euros definitely well spent. For example, one of the Tiny Terror orange, the price is 400 Euro in natura, at will to try.

The Guitarcades are now more numerous, better updated and available immediately. Whether one is now the old school look appeals or not, is another question paper. Nevertheless, they cover in my opinion all the necessary basics playful well:

The lessons on the techniques are now more intense and extensive. In bends the tolerance is for example no longer as great as in the predecessor and requires precise, better games. For progressive duck Lessons also recommended will be able to cope more easily complete prior to heavier. Furthermore, this version offers several master lessons that articulation, pick-harmonics (played with the stop hand) and ambidextrous Tapping bring to the Players. Little things at the end:

- Mode for color blindness exists (not tested)
- Multiplayer (not tested)
- Bass: no Tip whether with a pick or fingers
- Emissions are partly formulated quite unclear
- On the PS3: Uplay obligation (account at Ubisoft) which you can get points and small gimmicks can unlock
- As in the predecessor some songs from the sound forth are quite silent (no idea whether this is related to my configuration)
- No reasonable introduction to the session mode (if only via the digital instructions and the missions)
- 50 new songs (on for taste known)

- Purchased DLC from the first part will be integrated at no extra cost (if it is the same platform)
- On-Disc Tracks from the first part may only be transferred by means of an import-pack for about 10 euros, but there are difficulties in Europe (Eric Clapton, Seth Chapla include certain reasons not included)
- The US version and purchased US-DLC will not work with the EU version and are NOT cross-platform
- Synchronization with the PS Store is flawed
