- Classification: newbie in LCD / LED sector. previously looked in the tube.
- Preparation: INet countless searches, electronic markets abgeklappert
- Expectations: excellent image quality, no blurry images during camera movement, good passive 3D, intuitive operation, no possible "beta tester device", WiFi, internet (!). short: high expectations!
- Shortlisted: LG 47LM660s, Panasonic Viera TX-L47ETW5 or 50, Philips 47PFL6007K / 12
- Difficulty: due to some reviews I was very confused, because apparently many devices their quirks have (clouding, station lists disappear device is switched off just after update does this and that not more, image quality is poor, old tube better ...).
- Decisions: In principle, I could have decided for all 3 devices because the Bildqulität I felt with all 3 devices as well. but tipping the scales at LG was probably the ZUS. Remote Control (magic remote), I have also previously tested times in MM and the unit's optics.
building no problem, connect with me via satellite to internal lg-receiver in the device. enable and already you will be step-by-step through the installation ...
earlier here (at the latest after the installation) I would have now wished for a guide in paper form (or at least as a pdf)! because just when switching from one tube is struck with a variety of functions and settings that do not really say a lot. even on the LG-side there is no manual. Although it is a "manual" doing what LG but also could have saved! here is, among other things, how the unit is to wear that one to the TV does not shake and rattle and other rubbish that nobody needs. only the remote control buttons are briefly described. probably legally a must for lg, so you can not drive them to the cart with improper treatment. for this non-service it belongs normally shun LG already! but we give them a chance ... ;-)
the installation is complete after about 15 minutes (but no software update, more on that later). will appear for the first time a TV picture. with me 'the first' in HD. WOW! what a brilliant image! now rapidly switched (in the truest sense quickly because the program change will fix from equip), and even programs without hd appear very handsome! such a clean and clear image, respectful!
so, now even the look test with respect. Clouding, artifacts or other 'dirt', which was quick to criticize some testers ... looked again ... and nothing. all the best! a deep breathing, because that was one of my biggest worry. no Mondays device caught, everything top!
not to despair of all image settings, I was only off operations for the default 'Games' decision. this seems to me to be enough for my needs first time as 'setting for all'. if it will bear my time at some point, I'll try experimenting times manually.
first television experience the em-match between Germany and Holland. neither streaks nor blur, even during fast camera pans next to nothing! The second half I then tried the mode 2D to 3D. Again a wow factor! Although not really 3D, but very plastic and the 3D is very close, especially in close-ups, for example, if a player makes a throw. close enough to touch ... The same with photos, you can look at easy via USB in this 3D mode.
real 3d I then enjoyed only once over the many additional apps and was impressed! to test 3D on blue ray (lg bp420), I saw the movie 'Sammy's Adventures' ordered me. In short: a feast for the eyes and super effects! came out of the no longer swarm out! A little tip: the best view in the dark / dark room so as to exclude disturbing side effects on the eyes. Also, one should sit closer to the TV with 3D. thereby the effect further increases.
glossy display: who light windows / has in the background, it should be avoided. I did not, and so it does not bother also. clear advantage in the reflective, the colors and the contrast seem considerably better compared to a non-reflective. but everyone should decide for himself.
briefly what sound quality to the. Again, I am pleasantly surprised what comes out relatively good sound from the built-in speakers but close. logically, one can not compare this with a subwoofer system, but for the normal television and movie enjoyment absolutely fine.
initially, the sound distorted greatly at me when I turned a little louder. menu I discovered that there are two modes. a 'hang TV on the wall' to and one as a 'standalone unit'. because I have the LG on a rack, I had to change it to the latter. and lo and behold, sound clean and without distortions.
the Home button opens a a variety of "gimmicks" and movies, as well as setting options. here you have a lot to do first to scout everything. the in a positive sense, because it is simply fun! especially with the 'magic remote' remote control!
now also again what annoying. when you try to update the software via WLAN (also complimentary), there was the following problem. 31% of the download stopped ... after 10 minutes did nothing, I have broken (close) and re-activated via the menu, the Internet connection. back to sofware update and lo and behold, we went at least further from the 31%. the whole game was repeated again at 53%, 71% and 92% !!! it was then finally and the software was then apparently also updated correctly. I could at least so far not detect any malfunctions. Because the update is now through, I had no mushrooms, to appeal to lg. users can according to the update but other allegedly ordered by email and in the LG Hotline to make it then draufzuspielen via USB stick. Well, with me we went just as well, but let's wait for the next update from ...
negative I feel also that you can not turn far enough to LED on the pedestal. a few degrees more moving angle would make things easier to stare sometimes from another corner of the room on tv!
I also miss the function can also make image times smaller, than always upscaling (eg mpg's or AVI's of lower quality quite useful). While there is a ratio function, but only with a click. and the teletext (old-school) I would like to see a transparent function or split screen, so you have the TV picture looks in the background.
HDD recording via USB I have not tried yet.
OK, I think that should be enough for all of you indecisive. certainly there are other very good devices on the market, but I for one have the good feeling of having made the right decision. already alone for the brilliant image in 2D and 3D mode, I would forgive 6 star! Due to the manual misery and the other little things there are but then only 5 star ;-)
Whichever device / vendor you decide ultimately. I wish you as much fun with it as I now have with my lg!
