The CD I bought a few years later, and even though Die Toten Hosen for more than 15 years, really can not vorlocken me behind the stove: a little bit of horror show I hear even after 20 years extremely happy.
In my eyes, the pants did on this album something they have never attempt it again later so convincing: the combination of pathos, catchiness and emotions such as anger or despair in typical pants sound. Great melodies, catchy choruses and a quiet, vulnerable (and injured) moments give a big, absolutely harmonious whole here. The whole album has a very unique, distinctive atmosphere, which just grabs me at first hearing as twenty years later - a little bit of horror show is like "in one piece", and even if not all songs are directly related to "Clockwork Orange" have, It makes perfect sense to enjoy this completely and in the given order. The "Skip" button, I use only seltenst in a little bit horror show.
For their prevailing conditions, the band presented matured tremendously, the songwriting was worlds more complex, sophisticated and elaborate than before - and Campinos texts more into focus. Incidentally, I found simply that optimally fits his voice to the songs here and the subject. The production is also really good.
Very lively, I remember that the album among fans anything but uncontroversial at the time was ... who the ironed Schunkel skirt studio predecessor "ladies' choice" expected was (thankfully) bitterly disappointed, and also the fact that it's a concept album here , was for many a listener also very unexpected ... and has some overwhelmed.
But perhaps this is also special about the album: while the pants vorhehsehbarer were in my eyes in the ensuing period they entered with a little bit of horror show for her creative territory, is presented challenges and did something that probably hardly anyone would have expected ... and they made it totally great!
Maybe that's the problem, that the pants in the ensuing period always better know how they have to write a typical for her album for her typical sound and typical texts - for me, this resulted in the following years in fairly interchangeable for me works which I though the bottom line was not bad, but who often do not particularly blown away ... and ALL the comparison with a little bit of horror show not withstand for me, and certainly not over the distance of many years.
A little bit of horror show and the accompanying tour is often called the commercial breakthrough of trousers - in my eyes, it was not only that, but their complete Zenit. Who has not known until then what potential this band has it looked at the latest, and the from this album and this tour at the latest starting altitude flight, the guys had definitely earned!
I think that every band so has an album coming on their best trademarks best advantage - often these are the albums, where the band has expanded their respective horizon drastically and did something unexpected.
This is exactly what has happened in the pants with a little bit of horror show, and I doubt very much that the Toten Hosen were located again in this sensational form, even if they have shown in the following decades, repeatedly, that you can always count on them must, when it comes to good German rock ... and the pants are an incredible (!) good live band have provided at any stage in their careers already demonstrated the guys.
Anyway: a truly great work, and certainly one of the best German rock albums of all time ... and personally a wonderful memory.
