Now at last, the whole band is back and it seems as if there had never been the break. The first single "Settle Down" for their upcoming album brings everything the ska Popper from California are known. A desert mix of pop, reggae, dancehall and - more recently - Bollywood elements indented Gwen and her boys in the right light and evokes memories of "Tragic Kingdom" and the better moments on "Rock Steady". Genre boundaries knows the band apparently still do not and it follows on an Indian / Asian-inspired intro a first driving dancehall verses that eventually the pop-rock lead chorus.
One might almost think the aim of the band was there was to bring as many hooks as possible in a song below. We are also pleased that No Doubt is not the latest David Guetta / Calvin Harris dance-pop sound subdue and just do exactly up where they left off in 2003. The song just sounds unmistakably No Doubt, acting at the same time but not like a olles leftover from the 90s / 00ern. On the contrary, the radio should act "Settle Down" in 2012 in a world dominated by dance and dubstep playlist as a surge of fresh air.
