Sound: As the first single "I'm A Mess" already suggested, "The Rasmus" poppy and electronic therefore comes as its predecessors. This impression confirmed also the very first track "Stranger", but in the chorus holds some great riffs. On soft sounds the guys this time really not saved, among the ten songs there are three beautiful ballads "Save Me Once Again", "Somewhere" and "Sky". But if you're thinking, The Rasmus have completely broken with the rock style of their greatest success times much mistaken. With "Someone's Gonna Light You Up", "You Do not See Me" and "Friends Do not Do Like That" they prove that they are still dealing with a rock band with The Rasmus, although the pop elements like Pull a thread through the whole album. However, that's nothing to evaluate new and absolutely anything but negative because overall the boys remain true. Songs like "I'm A Mess", "It's Your Night" and "End Of The Story" convince with catchy melodies and rousing choruses. Great!
Lyrics: Thematically, "The Rasmus" is very different from its predecessor. While "Black Roses" mostly told from a failed love, dominates the theme of friendship with all its facets. Often the songs sent to a boyfriend / girlfriend, either, to ask for help from a life crisis ("Save Me Once Again"), to give comfort ("It's Your Night", "Someone's Gonna Light You Up") or to settle accounts with the person concerned ("Friends Do not Do Like That"). But also love playing here in different ways an important role ("Stranger", "I'm A Mess", "End Of The Story", "You Do not See Me"). However, I must admit that personally as a woman bred tearjerker or a real heartbreak song I lack! : D But as the melancholy, fans of tiefrgündigen and poetic texts as always their money's worth. In particular, "Sky" could not be more moving, one of the most personal and saddest songs I've ever heard of The Rasmus (who knows Lauri Ylönens texts, knows what that means!) - Movingly beautiful! Compared with, for example, "Dead Letters" many songs are also quite optimistic, as "Somewhere". Each song tells its own story, something I'm The Rasmus has always greatly appreciated!
Conclusion: The four boys is again a unique masterpiece succeeded! Despite some small drawbacks I fell madly in love with "The Rasmus" and hear it up since yesterday and down, so I can not help but five star awarded to! My personal favorites are "It's Your Night" (feel-good song!), "End Of The Story" (touching and extraordinary), "Friends Do not Do Like That" (Outgoing song!) And "Sky" ( dreamlike, as already mentioned). Allen fans I can put this album warmly recommend, to those who the "new" style (so new the pop sound is not, see "Into") are skeptical and prefer rather harder albums like "Hide From The Sun", because despite of change, which is typical of this band, it reflects everything again, what makes The Rasmus. Also all lovers of honest, no-frills, melodic-melancholic rock I can only recommend this album. Although the heyday of "In The Shadows" unfortunately long since consigned to the past, The Rasmus still account for music at the highest level and have earned a permanent place in the industry!
So: buy, buy, buy! ;)
