This band was fucking rock well even without Michael Schenker!

If the Hard Rock fan talks about live recordings of the band UFO, then it goes either to the "Live In Japan" album from 1972 (last LP of the original line-up) or to the DoLP "Strangers In The Night" from 1979 with which the band stage with guitarist Michael Schenker (1974 - 1979) was completed. Both albums are live classic and therefore belong in any well-stocked rock LP / CD collection. UFO released after the departure of M. Schenker during the years 1980 - 1983 a total of 4 studio LPs (No Place To Run / The Wild, The Willing ... / Mechanix / Making Contact), which I personally (seen qualitatively) on all the same level as LP releases the Schenker era site. Schenker's successor Paul Chapman was a very good guitar player as well as composer and many UFO songs from this period were the tracks from the 70s in every way! But what has me even then immensely annoyed was the fact that at the completion of the Chapman era (end of 1983) no UFO live LP was what the songs of 4 albums from the years 1980 - 1983 were included. Only in 2001 a live CD was verüffentlicht which the title of "Regenerator - Live 1982 'had and on the next few standards from the 70s mainly songs were played from the first 3 panels from the early 80s. And now there's finally with "Headstone" another live CD of the UFO occupation with P. Chapman and N. Carter. All 11 songs were recorded in April 1983 at London's Hammersmith Odeon. Only the title "Electric phase" (from the album "Lights Out") comes from the Schenker-time, the other 10 tracks are from the 4 LPs from the early 80s. And this disc rocks the house! Songs like "Long Gone", "Chains Chains", "We Belong To The Night", "Blinded By A Lie", "No Place To Run" and the almost 10-minute version of "Mystery Train" are all absolute highlights, which beat faster and faster the heart of every rock fans! The sound is right, the band plays punchy and tight, Phil Mogg's pretty good voice and - as already mentioned - the Song selection is very good hit! No overlap with the "Strangers In The Night" album!
Raises only the question of why it had to take more than 25 years until this live album saw the light of day!
The cult or classic status of "Live in Japan" and "Strangers In The Night" is not likely to reach "Headstone", but a class-live album, this CD all! So I see it at least! I would even go so far as to say: Who the "Strangers In The Night" like, the will also inspire "Headstone"!
So - buys you this live disc and rejoice at it contains 11 tracks UFO. You will not regret it!
