Preservation Act 1 (Audio CD)

Customer Review

The early 70s were by far the most difficult phase for the Kinks, since they are little more than the band ignored in the general public with the Schunkelhit "Lola" and associated the incredible range simply. This concept album takes the issue of the '68 classic "Village Green Preservation Society" again and has great songs like "Sweet Lady Genevieve", "Sitting in the Miday Sun" and "One of the Survivors" (the latter, incidentally, damn near on Punk !). I personally like "Act 2" a little better, that's why only four stars, but overall a delightful alternative to the somewhat pompous concept albums by The Who (eg "Quadrophenia").
