Most reviewers on Amazon.com are very complimentary and I bought this book also on the enthusiastic recommendation of Olivia Télématin. We think that we will dive into a traditional whodunit, since Nick's wife, Amy, disappears and everything seems to indicate that there was a violent struggle. The police suspect Nick number one because of a circumstantial body of evidence, but he struggles to maintain his innocence. Did she die murdered? The novel takes place on two parallel tracks which alternate rapidly, the real-time account of Nick and Amy's diary before his disappearance. The presentation of the two stories is extremely skillful especially one realizes that Amy, mad with jealousy, is a cruel manipulative. Unfortunately the end is very disappointing because after all this excitement the outcome completely falls flat like Gillian Flynn had locked herself in her building and has not known how to get out. So 5 stars for the structure of the story and characters, but only to the end.
