This one-act comedy is like the art of Molière animated by wit, art mastered with joy, that of the archer clearing his features in the heart, for love of humanity, intelligence and contempt of fats. The hypocrisy, stupidity, the spirit of avarice, lesson donors "devotees", Harpagon and Tartuffe, Molière's enemies are. His whole theater burst of laughter, when subtle criticism is fly spiritually but also natural, popular (at large) when the farce ridicules those precious of all kinds.
Molière denounces the stupidity valuable that prevailed in Parisian literary salons, and especially that of the Rambouillet Hotel hosted by Mademoiselle de Scuderi. What fun!
The documents annexed to the room, in this present edition as leased (brilliant, informative and rich theme in this collection "new classics Larousse") help the reader to grasp the spirit of the preciousness, especially in favor of excerpts from " Grand Dictionary of Precious "from Somaize in 1661:
"A. Luminaries: the fathers of fortune and inclinations
B. Shop: The shop booksellers: the cemetery of the living and the dead.
C. Chair: The chair holders: the baptized mules
(...)
F. Female. This woman is young, this woman because of absences.
(...)
L. Lips mute masters
(...)
S. Sighs: children of the air (...) "
Often also the spirit is not lacking in the precious example of this madrigal:
"Phyllis went to my faith.
What would she do to her defense?
There were only three of us: her love and me.
And Love was intelligence "(Cotin, mixed works, 1659)
Molière has too many finesse to draw up the trial of the preciousness. However clears the futile bulky crate of mind, claim to have become standard and thereby to subvert the good taste, intelligence, creativity. It explodes with laughter this claim expressed by fools to rule the intellect.
