The design is really successful! The notebook is also really easy unmatched thin and 1240 g. The aluminum housing provides a very sleek and sophisticated look
Emissions: Outstanding: Since no fan is installed, the UX305 works absolutely silent. The heat influence stayed with me very limited. I use a laptop frequently at night a long time on the sofa, what. There were no problems due to excessive heat build-up at the bottom.
Processing: In my view, also impeccable. Robust metal housing. No wobbling on the table, as reported even by predecessors. The gaps were also consistently fine
Keyboard + Touchpad: To my mind both ok, the keyboard actually used some rattles on a table, which does not sound particularly dibasic. The touchpad I personally had no problems.
Performance: With regard to the new Broadwell CPU you should know that those without fan gets along, but in terms of performance does not come at the previous models approach. The graphics unit is obviously a little weaker. I read somewhere that the built-in CPU max. an i3 processor corresponds. So if you want to run compute-intensive applications or gaming suitable device searches, perhaps should better rely on the UX303 series. For my purposes (Office, surfing, multimedia), the power was sufficient completely.
SSD: It is a SanDisk installed with 256GB. The performance with CrystalMark look quite neat: Sequentially writing 418 Mb / s, Read 458 MB / s.
WLAN: Unfortunately still a weak point. Although I was able to connect to the standing on an upper floor router, but the connection was not always stable, it often came to disconnections. I then tested with a 1GB data package (Photos) the transmission rate. She was depending on the location between 3-4 MB / sec., So underwhelming.
Display: The resolution of IPS displays is 13-inch in the combination and Windows 8.1. quite a problem. I had huge problems with the presentation of various programs (MediaMonkey, VLC Player). Also, the Windows File Manger looked kind of muddy and slightly out of focus. This is due to the enormous scale. To download fonts and icons are still visible, the annoying Windows 8.1 skalliert everything automatically up to 250 percent. For some programs, the good (eg. Firefox), in other works not against it. Parts of the program are then either reproduced blurred or so small that an operation is incredibly fiddly. This was for example in the Player Units from VLC player and the MediaMonkey the case. Operation with Windows 7 is definitely coming out of the question that Windows 7 can not skallieren high enough. If you want to only surf, want to watch videos and photos, to the high-resolution display is certainly worthwhile. For me, the lack of representation of many programs was a knock-out criterion. I have returned the unit and ordered a model with a lower resolution (1920x1080).
