Top performance, but ...

It was a moment I was looking for an external HDD to take over my WD My Passport SE older. I had 2 to a minimum and after several searches, I found this model that was highly rated by the press and users. Yet I hesitated to buy a Seagate. I have always been equipped with WD and from my point of view, Seagate does not have the same reputation (perhaps because it is the least expensive?).

In short, hard disk received without problems after a second trial (the first order - from top price - has resulted in an empty box without HDD () short?!?). Findings:

- It is very compact. Hard to imagine that it houses 2TB!
- The finish is correct. It's not metal but of plastic, nothing pure Price surprising. It regrets the contours that are glossy plastic material that resists that rarely scratches.
- The USB cable is a bit short, but we will not find anything better in the competition.
- The rates are very good. up to 120 MB / s write USB 3 and 40 MB / s USB 2 (even using a standard micro USB cable to smartphone).

A priori positive, BUT:

After an hour and a half, the disk began to disconnect and then reconnect instantly. This is again reached about 90 minutes after, and so on. so I changed USB port: same problem. USB 2: same problem. On another PC: same problem ... Ouch!.

I came to the conclusion that it was not a defect but a characteristic of the disk, given the very regular disconnection interval. I said that this problem only occurs when the disk is not pressed. If you write / read with, this does not happen. Given that this is the moment of my disk "backup" and plugged in my PC is 3/4 of the time, it is inconceivable that I keep it under these conditions. So I turned and I turned on a WD My Passport Ultra, certainly 10 more, but i hope that more reliable.
