Sonic highways (CD)

Customer Review

The concept of sonic highways is now well known: it was for the Foo Fighters record each song in a different American city, inspired by her musical heritage.
8 songs recorded in 8 cities therefore constitute the eighth album of the band Dave Grohl. This may seem little, but each piece is relatively long, it reached the 42 minutes of music.

The compositions are very good as usual, the disc starts on hubcaps with Something from nothing and The feast and the famine. It is then sometimes a little more agreed, including Subterranean which would not offsuit on There is nothing left to lose (not one of my favorite albums), and concludes on the other hand I am a very demanding river, despite its chorus a bit repetitive.

Actually the "problem" of this album, is that listening alone, it is difficult to perceive the influences of the cities where the songs were recorded. Watching the series that aired on HBO (which unfortunately I have not seen) definitely brings a fascinating insight into the creative process of the pieces.

Sonic highways, which still remains a very good record, seems not to have to be a soundtrack to a documentary series like Real to Reel had been for Sound City.

Therefore remains whether a given album is in the works.
