It is easy to recognize the poet beside the writer in descriptions it makes us share. I found very pleasant reading, the short story is composed of no frills useless. It gets right to the point.
The most striking character is River trying to do everything possible so that these drivers are most likely to stay alive for their mission. He spares no mistake and punished severely when this happens. The slightest relaxation on his part that could cause the startup of a gear which inevitably led to the endangerment of its drivers. It is he who inspires their courage when they lack, it transmits their values.
The author delivers us here a tribute to all those men who have not hesitated to balance their lives to accomplish something for them was of greater importance. There is not a doubt that nowadays such men have become very rare.
