Age of Wonders 3 is not a simple game. Although there are very nice told campaigns, but really taken by the hand the player will never be. So can best generate a small random map, ask the opponent to easily get started and overlooking the extensive in-game manual. Sometime it's slight of hand to build his cities to explore spells to produce imaginative units and conquer the world in turn-based battles. And by now you will notice looking at the clock, it's much later again when you actually thought. In fact I was hardly a game so drawn lately under his spell, as this turn-based strategy game of the Dutch game developer Triumph Studios. Humans, dwarves, elves, orcs, draconians, goblins, and with the recent expansion also Halflings, populate the preset or random maps full of oceans, mountains, volcanoes or ice deserts. And not only this playable races, numerous monsters make the worlds uncertain. Undead, giants, dragons, fairies and many others are a challenge - or strong allies. To date, six leaders classes Necromancers are as DLC in the work give the game each an individual touch. The Dreadnought is let battleships at sea and can these with its special skills and good repair and strengthening, while a wizard might conjure more baby octopus, and assumes this to be with plenty of combat experience to the giant squid, the terror of the seas, develop. And if the leader of times does not get further, perhaps one of the wandering hero has the desired skills. Or help the rare artifact from the last plundered treasure hoard? Many subtleties are discussed in the very active community in the manufacturer forums and the developers can not grind and have multiple patches, and so far a DLC (Golden Realms) already implemented many suggestions. Some new monsters have been added. My favorite: Dread Monkeys. Evil cause for smelly monkey hordes that can throw the opponent with their droppings. And I see it as a serious strategic challenge to enslave these free-roaming monsters and thus achieve world domination!
I purchased the Collector's Edition, but I am disappointed by the quality of the statue. This and the soundtrack as well as the unstable cardboard box does not justify the additional cost. I would therefore suggest you take the regular version or equal to a downloadable version because as I said anyway there is no printed manual.
