Disciple of Clifford Brown and trumpeter very characteristic style of his Blue Note 60s, he became famous thanks to its ultra The Sidewinder album in 1963.
In 1972, at 34, he was shot on stage by his ex-wife.
In between, he has released 28 discs still leader. The others are collaborations either "live" or compilations not necessarily useful (note the possibility dacquérir, low cost, four basic CDs or eight CDs, but with The Young Lions, together with Wayne Shorter on Mils label sold by Amazon).
Registered on 15 February 1964 Search for the New Land is the twelfth album in leader Lee Morgan, Wayne Shorter, Grant Green, Herbie hanckok, Reggie Workman and Billy Higgins. Lee Morgan to sign all compositions. Succeeding specious success was the funky The Sidewinder, Search for the New Land surprisingly takes his distance. No more funky, back to hard bop but licked hard bop and lyrical, with a beautiful sound.
