Udo's History of Rock

Udo's History of Rock

Rock Revue (Audio CD)

Customer Review

After seven studio albums with mostly self-composed and equipped with German lyrics songs Udo presents us in his latest contemporary (1978) Factory
a disc with cover versions. Here one wonders why! The artist has no more ideas and it is a sign that he is burnt out! In the published 2002 Special
Deluxe Edition are 11 songs, the last an instrumental (Peter Gunn)
is. His version of this classic which I find very successful Waldemar Wunderbar syndicate. With Rockin 'and Rollin' (Track 1), the only song of the LP is not from foreign pen, granted us a Udo not boring lesson rock and roll history. After that follow nine classics of rock history with eingedeutschten
Texts. The best managed, I find the following titles:
-Reeperbahn (Track 6), for the second time here the singer a master version of a
Beatle classic succeeded (Penny Lane- Reeperbahn, in memory on Galaxo Gear
is already a gecovertes song of the Fab Four)
Likeability for the devil (Track 9), brilliant translation of the Stones classic, the devil
as the driving force of the story!
- Still crazy after all these years (Track 10), Original by Paul Simon "Still
Crazy After All These Years "
Unfortunately there are also failed transmission attempts. Tutti Frutti (Track 2) is one of them.
That seems there anyway before lame and stiff. Little Richard (Original Artist) would certainly fallen asleep at the piano. The same goes for "Sweet Little Sixteen" (Track 7, original Chuck Berry "Sweet Little Sixteen"), and "The boss of the gang" (Track 8,
Original Shangri-Las' Leader of the Pack "). The voice of Linde bergischen
Nachtigal will not quite fit on these mentioned titles. The rest of the CD, Title 3
"Damn it, we need to get out of the mud" (original Animals "We gotta get out of
this place "), Title 4" Salty Dog (Original Procol Harum) and Title 5 "I sit all
Day are at the docks "(original Otis Redding" Sitting on the Dock of the Bay)
were reasonably well done. The German texts with the Udo Horst Koenigstein to
all titles wrote are all very good. Times translation is literal as in
"Sympathy for the Devil" or it is spun to as "Reeperbahn" a fictional story. The musical realization of the Anglo-American templates is
but shown very variable in terms of quality as in this review. About this
Rock Revue therefore light up only 3 stars.
