The Man Who Sold the World (Audio CD)

Customer Review

No matter what had done for material Bowie before going into the studio,
no matter what he preferred just for clothes or; and certainly me
completely equal his former (? pseudo) - Homosexual Image; we are talking about great
Musik. Was originated there can can be heard without a doubt. Maybe that's
Album of large Sleeper in the catalog of the Master; I like it better than anyone
Discs for Scary Monsters, better than anything between ZIGGY and Station to Station.
I also like the previous Space Oddity very. Bowie followed here, on his
Album of the 1970/71 on the predecessor with "Cygnet Committee" prepared harder,
almost prog-rock-oriented style, which unfortunately only witnessed this one album.
Already the successor hunky dory was then for Christmas candyfloss
(At least partially); and with ZIGGY pursued Bowie the rather silly for me
T. Rex - glam. Rather dull (though all measured at the most demanding)
for me, the successor of ZIGGY. Thus, THE MAN WHO SOLD THE WORLD offers
ideal gateway drug for fans of the group Genesis (1970-80), Yes, King Crimson, Pink
Floyd; and also for heavy metal fans. The music is not just guitar loaded; they
is also on the progressive amount of their time: rhythm changes, tempi changes,
Nesting of different fragments in longer structures - great.

The musical high level created David, not least in particular by the
Room, he granted his guitarist Mick Ronson; and wow! what it
emerges is really great. And as it is ingenious blend Ronson and drummer
Mick Woodmansey here together. Even the background music of madness
and depression in "All The Madmen" (this time very skillfully by the keyboards
Ralph Mace) always makes me back a little gänsehäutig. "After All"
My tip on this record, the almost equally well as I like
TRESPASS of Genesis.

In his radio miniseries THE FAVORITED about David Bowie explained Heinz-Rudolf
Kunze early 80s quite impressive; as Bowie's commercial fainting
simultaneously conduct textually Nietzschean fantasies of omnipotence.

The Remaster frees us, in fact, of which a little rattling sound of the issue in 1990.
But: Unfortunately integrated just not the 4 bonus tracks from that time:

10. Lightning Frightening
11. Holy Holy
12. Moonage Daydream (Early Version)
13. Hang Onto Yourself (Early Version)
