The new Bose headphones like technically almost its predecessor, the contacts are no longer gilded. The processing is at two headphones at a high where ever, the new amplifies the input signal stronger (loud), with the same battery voltage. When Acoustic Noise Cancelling I could not detect any noticeable change, though here, according to Bose, a completely new technique. Furthermore, deep humming noise from gambling neighbor's son (Playstation with subwoofer) and very high notes coming through. Nevertheless, both headphones in my opinion, at the moment, the best Acoustic Noise Cancelling headphones on the market. The function of the keys on the cable have not been revealed to me, since I do not own Apple device. Even with the sound I can not tell the difference, except that the volume is louder with the same input signal at the new. Look here everybody has to decide for yourself!
My advice: If you do not have Apple device and the new buttons are not or only partly needed, I would buy the predecessor "Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling" preferred as favorable for obsolescence.
Conclusion: It seems that was in the new model more emphasis on an optimized manufacturing process, rather than spoil the customers with new innovative technology.
