As I have previously worked with Office for Mac 2004, I had first of all fear, not get into the new Office of 2011 without further notice. But although visually lot has changed, there has been no problem for me to recover the functions used by me in Word (and even with Excel). All right, that was taken not or only barely change the main menu bar. In contrast to the 2004 version of the new division button rows by means of some riders is designed very clear and enables a quick operation of the key functions. Only the I frequently used button for the comments I could not find at first, so I always have to go here from the main menu. There is to my advantage very pleased that the functions high and low points, and strikethrough are easily accessible as buttons and must be no more than an extra pop-up, what then often was in the processing of documents "in the way", operated. The fact that the search function is not created via a pop-up, but as now used for most Internet browsers, I personally find enjoyable and user-friendly.
So much in fact all good, only there is just unfortunately a few caveats: So far the spell check has proven to be very exposed vulnerable. Unfortunately, I got far more frequently the message that the spell check because of an error can not be executed, as they worked without any problems. In addition, the spell checker also has some weaknesses in recognizing commas. I was so far already used by the right Recorder Identification of Word that complex sentence structures not see through and quotes were fundamentally flawed recommended, but not wanting to put a comma in a list for a word, but directly without spaces tap before the next word is already very diagonally. Another minus point for me is that the change tracking automatically switches autonomously, even if they have been turned off before saving the document. If that was deliberately made so, the meaning behind it opens up not me and it means for me to always have to make a few clicks when you open a file in order to restore the desired of me, and indeed previously stored processing state can. As in the past, problems often occurred when I sent a file with enabled change tracking via email, I now hope that these problems were at least corrected, since no longer is possible to send a document with switched off change tracking. And also as usual opens the new replace function that instead of the left margin as a pop-up, I do not think so successful, but that's of course a matter of taste ...
Conclusion: The first impression of the Word Office 2011 was very good, then relativized but after some use. So far I've been working for about two weeks with the program, so I just hope that not more mistakes occur at functions I've hardly used (for example, something more elaborate formatting). More than 3 stars are therefore from my side not in it, because actually it should be expected that a professional program without bugs comes along.

After some thorough use I had to now find that the programs are so deeply flawed that they are not really usable. In Excel there are major problems with the colored markings of signature and backgrounds (apart from the fact that the operation was complicated very user unfriendly here my feeling), so I am here again gone over to use my 2004-spec version. And in Word arising from the delivery via email to the recipient changes to the document (lots of missing spaces), which are not to be found with me so far and their occurrence I also can not understand.
That Microsoft products run flawlessly, is yes in principle not given basically, but in this new version of the bugs but exceed the Tolerable for me. So if you have a version with which to get reasonably accidents through the day, then you should continue to use these and not merely set this new version!
