This lens I use for many years now by the 300D, 5D to 5D MIII and I'm still impressed by the quality in every respect. It is a solid construction. The Bokeh (who can not do anything with the term, should please a look at Wikipedia) is very pleasant, the focus is not an exaggeration (the 4L IS is sharper) but still very good and I see for. B. with the Canon 100mm 2.8 L IS USM macro and the Canon 24-70 2.8 L II. The autofocus is very quiet and very fast. Who gets by with 200mm aperture and 4 (yes, you can take pictures with it without hesitation at maximum aperture), can actually buy a different lens. Alternatively, in the price range below there is the Tamron 70-300 VC USD 4.0-5.6 (see my review), which already provides but a visible difference in sharpness and resolution. The lens I feel even as a relatively easy - I once had the 70-200 2.8 L - which has caused long arms and had to on the 2.8er aperture and time again not to offer twice the price. There is a reason why Nikon user for years were envious of this lens (there's actually now something similar there?). A lens hood is supplied. The investment in this lens is certainly well spent.
