I purchased this wonderful piece about 2 weeks ago here at Amazon.
As my number rake Vorrezensenten had already stated, this lens stands out by its picture quality, which has no equal!
I still have 2 other lenses, but this is superior to them in every respect.
The photos are crisp and the lens makes a very sophisticated look!
However, in order not to repeat again now everything has already been said, I will confine myself here to a few things that struck me negatively, but do not justify it to deduct a star: D
1. The autofocus is very unreliable. That he at a scale of 1 the desired object: 5 sharp represents, is more or less a matter of luck.
That the autofocus at a scale of 1: 1 is not to be used, but I am fully aware) insects I generally always focusing manually.
Some other scenes where the objects are further away and you do not want to bother with the manual focus is, however, the unreliability of the autofocus is a bit annoying;)
But Furthermore I can ignore, since I do not often use it :)

Finally, I want to point out one thing, which I consider to be very important (as it also concerns me at the moment) and of which I have read a number of occasions on the web!
Please examine the lens on any "structural defects"! My copy rattles - Okay, this could be the USM or the Canon's own "floating system", but let it rather be with a verified Canon workshop clarify, while you still move into the guarantee margin!
Also checked the rear lens group of the lens, that is, those showing the lens mount!
For this you can easily press with your fingernail against the felt situated there (but please be careful that you do not damage the electronics;))
For me, there was a slight - really just a very slight - game, the lens group can be moved minimally hence. This leads to blur as the lens group moves due to gravity in the respective areas.
In my case I have this blurring can not perceive, but this was the Canon technician possible at various sharpness tests.
I therefore recommend to check the lens to the effect and possibly to a workshop, the newly adjusted the lens, where the deficiency is not moved in the manufacturing tolerance of the manufacturer.
For me it is currently the case, it is disassembled and repaired.
Nevertheless, I prefer it no star off because the error had an impact in my case, not visible to the quality and I seemed to be one of the mounting devices etc. have received;)
This Objekiv is absolutely top notch, it is fun to take pictures with it and I regret it completely not to have bought it :)
Would recommend it to anyone who is interested in macro photography and not fall back to close-up lenses, etc., but would like to have a real macro lens :)
