See, my brothers, spring is come; promise of freedom and shared joy. Each seed is awakening and even each animal back to life. Thus reproduces the miracle of this life that we have received. That is why we grant to all our fellow neighbors and even the animals the same right to us to inhabit this Earth. Yet, listen to me, all of you, we are dealing now with another race and not the color of his skin that makes it stand. Small and low time of our ancestors, his boundless greed, his fever to possess and destroy, made him master of this common Earth at all. These people have established many rules that the rich can break but not the poor. They were able to lock up the multitudes in loneliness and despair. They levy taxes on the poor and generous to maintain the rich who rule. They treat this land as their property. They rampaging through their stupidity and selfishness and barricade themselves against those they have ruined life. They increasingly disfigure our land with their buildings and their refuse. This race is like a torrent of mud that destroyed everything in its path. We can not live side by side. We can not share with them the same world.
According to the words of Sitting Bull, Sioux chief Hunkpapa. (1875)
