The style of Annie Proulx may seem surprising at first. After dry, no frills, it fits into this in the wilds of Wyoming and rough character of the two men. No exacerbated romanticism or sentimental great flights in this story stubbornly rooted in realism, yet the emotion is there, in the rough. The shocking end also leaves a bitter taste, and they began to dream of a more successful outcome.
Annie Proulx managed the feat to life in less than a hundred pages in an intense passion painful, without ever taking the easy way.
