An exciting novel, violent, upsetting a lost civilization

Azteca (Paperback)

Customer Review

Bathed in my childhood by "Golden cited mysterious," since intrigued by these civilizations knowledge so sharp yet so supersticieuses, I let myself be tempted to turn a radius from this book.
Honestly I had to spend the 50 pages to achieve return in this novel. Time to adapt to the Aztecs unpronounceable names, but also to me "geotag".
For beyond the story, the author gives a great importance in the description of places and landscapes. So for those who have visited Mexico, it is a pleasure to imagine what these two places and they are today.

To return to the story, so to sum it up in a few words. Through the testimony of an Aztec in favor of King Charles V, the novel tells the story of the Aztec civilization and its relations with other nations (Olmec, Mayan, ...) until the fall of this empire with the arrival of Cortes. A story told with the world of vision, the old rules, making this meeting with the Spanish Aztec civilization a shock.

It shows a great destiny for a character that nothing predisposed to it (just like Shantaram or Body & Ames) with a particularly instructive testimony about a historical period rich in discoveries (Magellan and Amerigo: story of a historical error Stefan Zweig).

A fictionalized book where the characters are expertly "dissected" that ends up making you dive into this exciting or upsetting hsitoire according pages.
Certainly some are passsages sentatives thought about sexual practices as the customs of sacrifices that I recommend for sensitive souls, but they are nevertheless realistic descriptions of historical facts.

Finally a book that I packed and well worth ses1000 pages.
