For longstanding supporter of the previous version CIV IV like me are heavily used to at first some details. As would be the one that the playing field is not the first time organized in squares, but in pentagons. Unit stack can also no longer be formed and it can not be stockpiled as many units in a city.
The technology tree was compared to the previous strong "purifies", which I personally but rather positive find, as the Tec-tree was quite bloated in Part IV and, in my view, not all developments were really logical (eg you can really invent a religion ?). Instead, just such things as religion or civics course in fashion have been integrated into the game. Religions can thus for example no longer be simply invented technologies but develop over social developments that can turn. Take appropriate measures, such as can specifically influence the construction of certain buildings
In addition to the known quantities faith and culture tourism will be added as a new indicator of the success of your empire. Also provides in my view exciting new opportunities, both in economic, and cultural terms.
In general, the culture of your country comes to a much greater significance than in its predecessor CIV IV. About the Culture Points, which produces your people, you gain that is the opportunity to develop your state and social system. Even that was formerly controlled through the tech tree. Could one earlier so for example, a form of government as the Republic simply invent it now arises out of cultural development.
Generally speaking, in my view, that it has become even more difficult, purely warlike playing and other factors, such as religion or culture just completely hide. That was the very first CIV still quite good, in other words you could build exclusively military units and losknüppeln simple plan. In CIV IV that was much more difficult and now you have to pay attention necessarily to a good balance between military, economic and cultural development, if you want to be successful.
In fact, the game's total has become very complex. But that it also draws its appeal. It has been just amazing many ways and there is simply no single scheme to win more. This in combination with the already known from previous versions "just-still-a-round-principle" makes again for an enormously high addiction factor.
My recommendation therefore: Anyone have a pastime for the winter months looking for ... slam ...
