Unpacking:
Everything included, incl. Batteries for the remote control.
Downside: only one VGA cable is as cable, which would be Samsung can save!
Feel / look:
No surprises, the thing is set up in 30 seconds and looks for the first transmitter.
Adjustable foot a little wobbly and everything VEB of known dust collector-surface brand concert grand piano.
Who wants it more stable, the use the VESA mount.
Remote Control:
The remote control uses the same protocol as all the latest Samsung TVs, my Samsung C650 can be operated with it, but some keys he does not know (PiP example, although he has PiP), but whatever. In one room, you can not use the device thus with other Samsung together, here Samsung should maybe something like the binding to introduce a single remote control, as Apple makes.
Response times and GUI:
As usual useful from Samsung. No nasty surprises.
Complete tuning in Digikabel (Unitymedia, no SamrtCard) promotes known ~ 350 stations revealed.
Sorting, or delete the encrypted transmitter is refreshingly comfortable, because they have learned. You can see the list in about 10 minutes to facilitate all encrypted (shown in the list of maps icon that makes it additionally) by selecting them (cursor automatically goes on) and then en block or delete multiple channels together Move.
So the private sector can be eg all ÖR forward behind and sort all the shopping channels on the back.
Radio is also supported, and the sound is acceptable per se. One might rather turn up the box if then still sounds good it was once an open question :-)
Stations on PC editing:
You can export the list and import. The format is used .scm like Samsung.
BUT: With the well-known Samsung PC Channel List Editor allows the file not edit.
SamsChannelEditor but creates. Conveniently, also directly delete all encrypted channels, so use immediately after scanning this app, then you can save time and energy again.
Picture-in-Picture Plus:
The PLUS I did not quite understand, because there is a perfectly ordinary PiP function.
However, you have as far as I can see the free choice of primary and additional image. My Samsung C650 can only TV show in other sources, no HDMI in the TV image.
It has three sizes for the small picture for election and the four corners as possible locations. Goofy I find here is that on both edges of the selected area behind the lying image will be shown as approximately 1.5cm wide strip. Continuous zoom would also have been nice, or a button to quickly switch between full screen and PIP mode.
A native display of 720p content as PiP would Samsung the device can still spendieren, a knob to the easy during the operation would have liked me to adjust continuously: Left stop: source 1 is 100% on the screen, turn to the right and a small picture Source 2 emerges and grows, until 50:50 is reached and then source is 2 main and source 1 is the PiP. But something Samsung is certainly creative ...
Goofy is that you can not change the image as small page format. This is certain to 16: 9. Old series see here getting weird. Too bad.
However annoying right are three things:
1 - If you unhide the TV image in the HDMI source, then EPG and channel list will not be available. Channel change and volume up / down function as usual remote control.
2 - If you unhide the HDMI image in the TV picture and the EPG calls, then the HDMI image has disappeared thereafter. You have to then re-enable. Every time at least 5 keystrokes. Annoying! Mainly because the EPG already is a frequently used function!
3 - Even more annoying it is if you use HDMI as the main image and the TV is activated as PiP. This requires every time 14 keystrokes to first PiP, then to activate TV as the source and still the sound from the TV. Instead Samsung saves the last settings you have to every time of SCART (!!) Switch on TV and the sound from the main source to provide secondary source Grrrrr ..
Sport mode:
I did not quite understand this mode, the picture is just awful when you activate the Sport mode. Burned too bright, funny. But I also watch any sport, if necessary. Is the mode to use for it. Who wants to watch football on this device, should if necessary. Check sample times previously.
Magic Angle:
There is one mode of oblique view from above and below, while the image of head-forward more or less useless. Apparently the LookUpTabelle colorimetry is here simply shifted so that the resulting extreme brightness or darkness to compensate for the angular dependence of the TN panels. If necessary. Samsung should obstruct a tiltable arm a try.
Media Player:
One is stuck via USB mobile hard drive (NTFS formatted) ran immediately and 720p .mkv it was played flawlessly.
Likewise, a 720p .mkv from the USB stick (FAT32 formatted).
Many options can be found here not a few zoom modes and image options that are not really better or different. But for something one has anyway a Raspberry Pi ;-)
This should present no problems at this Monitor TV, CEC's on board for the remote control.
The PVR hard drive of my C650 is not detected, the device speaks well not XFS. Too bad, I would have the recordings can easily take with the other room.
DLNA / AllShare:
As a monitor without LAN or to use WIFI-over-USB DLNA is beyond me, perhaps via LAN over HDMI? Or Samsung thinks so MHL? Who knows, you may like to say in the comments :-)
Kleinkram / Other:
The disconnectable Samsung logo when turning is ridiculous blurred, here you should maybe store a native image in the firmware :-)
Firmware update:
Samsung's website offers the update T-NTFMDEUC-1013.1, version 1014.0 was on my device already installed. The information can be found at MENU / SUPPORT / CONTACT SAMSUNG.
All in all, a good monitor with small drawbacks. Therefore only 4 stars, a little attention to detail would be a star more value to me.
