The band toils away. The music (which you can hear) is truly inspired. We hear an incredibly interesting singer, a completely wily guitarist, a drummer and quite wild with Wolfgang VH (the son of Edward) a dynamic, vital bassist. But unfortunately, we hear nothing. Nothing. The whole album is zusammengematscht and compressed to such an extent that you can hear it easily on a 5 cm small portable radio speakers. It's incredible: mud without end with fabulous compression 'everything is identical (guitar and vocals louder, the rest pretty much quieter) .The aims at people who unfortunately do not stereo, but only a bad car radio.
The facts: The album has a dynamic range (DR = Dynamic Range) of 5! That's virtually no momentum 'up all sounds equally as loud as possible. By comparison, a klingendes- interesting or even audiophile album DR values 12 to 16 A normal album of the 80 (the heyday of VH) as estimated by me Album Diver Down (1982) has a DR of 12 'and sounds not only good reason. What the drummer thought as he worked his pelvis (and he does that extremely visionary). What bassist does when father takes off again to a great solo. All this is unfortunately drowned in a gruesome mud. The guitar master, sure to be of great tube amp, his stupendous technique 'all mud. It sounds like a transistor fuzz from China for 17.80 EUR in the retail sector. We should force the engineers of this recording, one hour daily for 14 days to hear the gruesome sounding product of their labor. The lowest recorded by me DR ever destroyed a really good album. Music for people without ears. I've never heard a really good album with a DR of less than 10. But DR = 5 is really to run away.
Conclusion: Good music can sound with DR 5 so terrible!
