Nine Lives is the title of the 12th Aerosmith album will probably be a metaphor for the Verbrauchtheitsgrad the band members. But the expiration date seems to be far from being reached, as the band delivers sometimes just their date varied album from and convinced once more with polyphonic melodies, hooks, riffs and something mainstream. However, anyone who is a fanatical supporter of the old blues style, which can go right back, because their roots honors the band with this record not just excessively.
Overproduced may sometimes act the plate. In the mainstream tauglicheren pieces teem with strings, brass and many overdubs that are added all set in the limelight. Nevertheless, there are some nice dry Rocker. Unfortunately, you have the filling material in the form of the theme song Nine Lives same time packed to the beginning. A title such as crash not yet totally convinced, just because he is just playing with a lot of energy. For Joe Perry can here once tidy prove how simple, horny solos must be played.
But the material is better: The Farm like a little repetitive, Monton, but nevertheless very exciting work, but because Something's Gotta Give moves with speed, vigor and enthusiasm on the up-tempo train loosely over. In chorus we may then neatly mitkreischen and jumping around the room. Also marked by harsh chords is Attitude Adjustment. The verses are still beautiful trendy, loose breathed, but the riffs are pretty exciting in the short breaks and the chorus once again convinced by good melodies and a lot of pressure by the accompaniment.
So voltage and a certain hardness (every now and then in between) can still not deny the band. However, it outweigh the more pop elements, but these are all quite well. With Hole in my Soul there is again the (!) Typical ballad, but this is written out superb and Steven Tyler proves with its poignant vocal lines, how to produce kitsch great. So also in Kiss Your Past Good-Bye, which in turn represents the obligatory power ballad. It should be mentioned here is that just in this but in many other tracks, the lyrics just spray again before puns so.
In Full Circle 6/8 time and the relaxed bar atmosphere is then unpacked, sung personable and a pretty laid-back vibe and great tunes including. Highly suitable sing! Then we have Is not that a Bitch ?, which became one of my personal favorites, due to the successful composition of well taken Lyrics, matching chords and incomparable vocal / yelp lines coupled with some Scattereien the Lord Tyler, promoted and finally the poppigste, but still sympathetic, because acoustic Pink, which simply exudes simple, pure coolness and presents you with a catchy melody. As mainstream Closer (with a little too long outro) there are fallen angels on top. This is a pretty good song with quiet melodies, chords gebrochenenen and a beautiful chorus.
Herausstechend and special mention would still Taste of India, which can boast namensrechtfertigend Indian influences. Heavy riffs, a change in the arrangement, and much screaming make this song interesting. Equally interesting and coherent as Falling in Love (is Hard on the Knees), which is unfortunately the only song that combines skilfully the typical Aerosmith groove with the typical Aerosmith tunes.
Conclusion: Another great album of Air forging, with lots of variety, but unfortunately little groovy and bluesy pieces. In many places the dry hardness was reduced.
