Does what is expected of him illuminates the keyboard. However, the leds are really powerful, the use of black tape to better "target" may the light beam is a must not to obstruct your pet at night, or to avoid reflections in the display.
The neck itself is quality, very flexible, well thought out. I do not regret my purchase.
