I bought the device as a hard disk recorder, since my Fehrnseher already can display HDTV in its full glory, but my old hard disk recorder (Panasonic, 5 years old) not.
The difference between HDTV and analog recording was me then now slowly too crass. On top of that the Panasonic a DVB-C receiver has not even, but only analog - what the quality in direct comparison even further lowered.
So I was looking for a Fesplatten- or cable receiver with DVB-C, and the possibility of shooting in HD and I ended up at the Raptor.
Positives:
- The transmitter can be sorted quickly as I did on Fehrnseher; after what I have read in other receivers that is not necessarily normal.
- Recording in HD
- The recordings have a good quality and you can still adjust various things, such as the sharpness - default it was in my eyes sharpened a bit too much
- An external hard drive or flash drive is used either in a proprietary format (but FAT32 or NTFS) formatted yet mandatory, with the consequence that the plate can be fill with for example music or images on your PC. The total free space is then used, optionally on a separate partition, if you wish the
- The images are stored in the TS format on the disk and can be easily viewed (VLC player) and cut (Smart Cutter) are - if they are not encrypted. Sky & Co are stored in encrypted form (according to instructions, but not itself own pay-TV smart card).
Of course you can then also on DVD (no HD, such as with DVD Flick) or Blue Ray (probably HD but do not have a burner) burning.
- Max. 20 GB are reserved for Timeshift; that's enough for HD TV channels but also easy for> 3 hours
- If you have started the recording, transmitters can be on the same transponder (eg VOX when recording Pro7) view and even record; However, the recording transmitter must not be encrypted (to instructions)
- Recordings can be directly entered or programmed via the EPG; The Times found there can be easily customized according to your wishes (I leave behind always like 20-30 minutes air)
- The support was very quick and friendly; on the email to my futile search for a newer FW (see below) was very responsive and friendly and added the weekly intake repeat as a suggestion; it would be very positive that really recover in next FW
Verbeserungswürdig:
- It go so far no weekly repeated recordings, only one-time and daily (?). But then are 8 recording options too little, otherwise it would be ok.
- The receiver is (as of 19.12.2011) is not listed on the website, but the email support was (so) fast and friendly
- Unfortunately, can only be reached via the menu on the timer recordings, a direct button would be more comfortable for my type of use; for playing the recordings do not have to, however in the menu
- You can delete recordings only on the Media Player, which can be reached only via the menu
- The section on the receiver options are very limited (but that is by selbiges on PC loosely balanced)
In my view, there are no real negative points, really only the weekly intake I lack - therefore until the next FW first only 4 stars.
The ease of use of my old Panasonic ereicht not the receiver, on the other hand some of it can be easy to offset the PC (for example, cutting and burning options) enables the connection of the plate
