The features of this hub are very interesting if you regularly use two computers or one computer and one tablet / PHABLET. The principle is simple: you plug the HUB on your PC and you plug the keyboard, mouse and any other USB device. After installing the software (found in the HUB, which contains a microphone a few MW), you can use your mouse, keyboard and other USB compatible media (USB stick, hard drive) on your 2 machines!
The advantages are many:
- Use of a single couple mouse / keyboard for 2 machines and opportunities to work with keyboard mouse on a tablet / PHABLET
- Transition from one screen to another by passing the mouse on one side of the screen (configurable option within the software: up, down, right, left)
- Possibility to copy and paste from one machine to another (I copy text on a PC and stick it on the other)
- File exchange with the Go software! Booster (at a rate of 5Gb / s theoretical: I have not tested)
The cons:
- Must necessarily install the software (MacKMLink) but it's not too serious
- Connection to a tablet or phone PHABLET can be a problem: I have a note 3 and note 4 on android 4.4.4. (Also tested on a Galaxy S5 with this android version) and the "extended desktop + file transfer" does not. You have to install an app (Windroid Linker) but the connection is never done (not Rootes devices, the connection can be possible if you rootez your machines, I do not want to do this). Obviously, this is related to restrictions of Android and I have not (yet?) Found out how to solve this problem. It seems that earlier versions are compatible. Meanwhile, I went to Lollipop (Android 5.1) and it does not work either (which does not surprise me, it's still Android blocking).
EDIT: The notice clearly refers to this limitation and comments of support (below) to tell me they were still working this problem (so a good service!).
However, you can still use a keyboard shortcut (Alt + S) to spend your keyboard / mouse / périphUSB of the computer (PC / Mac) to the tablet / PHABLET. For those considering especially the links PC / Phone, I recommend the free app AirDroid (file exchange and management tel after Wifi connection).
In short, a very good hub for many services between two computers, but to qualify for links Ordi / Phone or Tablet (that is according to your model and version).
