If your knowledge is limited to the James Bond movies, you may be surprised to read this book. 007 described by Ian Fleming's smart, sophisticated, cruel, sexist, cold, hard or even brutal. The author offers us a character who has a scar on the right side of his face, smoke more than 70 cigarettes a day and had sexual pleasures somewhat surprising. This is essentially one man: no Moneypenny, no Q and no gadget. Although this is not a masterpiece of literature, it's a pretty amazing book. Despite some unrealistic scenes and notes / thoughts 007 somewhat annoying, the reader can ask "Casino Royal" so it is taking and sometimes bewildering: the part of Le Chiffre at baccarat between Bond and the torture scene is intense.
