The 18-55 is a pro lens without limitation. Haptics and workmanship are excellent. The picture quality is just wonderful. It forms at 16 MPx X-Trans very sharp and detailed from, but without being trimmed at the last bit of sharpness and contrast micro, thus it has a very slight creamy character, I find very pleasing. That is please not to be understood as a lack of sharpness, it is a typical characteristic of the entire system for Fuji!
The maximum aperture of 2.8 to 4.0 (just before 21mm is 3.2 and 35mm still 3.6) is pleasantly high, loss of quality at full aperture are almost non-existent. In the wide-angle edges are very slightly blurred, must to see the one but to be very picky. At 55mm, the resolution allows for something like zoom usual. The characteristics of the lens is very well suited for taking pictures with it and close to the open aperture.
The distortion is extremely small, I correct them in LR if that is necessary, max +/- 5 arrived.
CAs and halos do not exist. Only in extreme situations is something real discoverable in the corners, and I'm picky, clicking in LR and off it. Since I had with MFT (also FB!) Significantly more difficulties.
The AF is quiet and precise, several updates for camera and lens have improved.
A special feature is the aperture ring: Since the initial light intensity is not constant, it has no fixed markings. However, the camera remembers that I was, for example, to 2.8 at 18mm, then I click to zoom to 55, it goes to 4, I zoom back to 18, puts them back a 2.8.
The OIS switch is well placed and allows quick on / off of the anti-roll bars. With 18mm and f2.8 I photograph most 1/10 and 1/8 sec verwackelungsfrei with OIS from the Hans.
All around a very worthwhile objective that is worth its high price and brought a lot of joy and excellent photos. Many are heavily discounted in the kit to buy, where it fails with the 300 to Beech, for the price it is paid.
I've been using it for almost 2 years (and still have the 35 / 1.4) and am still fully satisfied.
