The book is a tribute to the dark comics 80-90 years, many new super heroes were invented for the occasion, and even super hero known undergo a facelift, both dress or at their credentials.
In this world, the Joker killed everyone at the Daily Planet, Lois Lane included, is handicapped and Batman fights crime with the help of remote-controlled robots, Wonder Woman is no longer queen, Lex Luthor has brainwashed captain Marvel ... and the confrontation of this little world is on the verge of finishing in Apocalypse.
I enjoyed reading Kingdom Come. The style of Alex Ross, while watercolor, is fabulous. He and Waid being big fans of the Silver Age, the result is a totally cult book.
At the end of the book, you also get a good bonus palanquée pages explaining the genesis of all the heroes of the series, very informative.
A must to read when you're a fan of comics.
