The songs are very well written and convincing musical independence and appealing texts. Especially the media critical piece "Selling The News" stands out and shows that "Switchfoot" despite their great successes they observe the world around critical and are not afraid to speak even uncomfortable truths and among other things, for the equality of all men enter, as in the song "The War Inside".
During the first half of the album still tidy rocks forward, it is then a total of a little quieter. Many of the ballads I miss the energy and unbridled passion of the first half of the album and its predecessor. Some of the songs resemble each other too much and it is to be feared almost that "Switchfoot" "tamed" as so many successful rock band from success and published increasingly less rock songs and many more radio-friendly soft ballads. But otherwise really convincing authenticity of the tape, which she puts on the day both lyrically and musically, I encourage nor to give them at least a chance and give them these quiet moments not only concede, but to accept them as part of the musical oeuvre. Nevertheless, 'for me they are welcome to let off steam even more in the future on their instruments!
