On this CD two top recordings of Sviatoslav Richter (1915-1997) are gathered, both originated in the early years of his international career. 1959, when Judge not allowed to travel to the West because of the political climate, has been the second piano concerto by Sergei Rachmaninoff in Warsaw, with the local Philharmonic, led by Stanislaw Wislocki recorded. It is for many music lovers to this day the best recording of this work vielgeschundenen. One must certify the pianist that he approaches with great virtuosity and passion of the play, musical "flying literally shreds". Richter strives not only to detoxify, with great sound and last devotion he designed Rachmaninov's most famous concert from the first to the last bar. The Polish conductor fits the style judge in every respect, and so here is a true century recording emerged. Three years later, on his first visit to Vienna, Richter had the chance to create with Herbert von Karajan and the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, the first piano concerto by Tchaikovsky. The pianist had already recorded in Moscow and Prague in the work previously, so here is by far his best performance of this piano concerto "par excellence". Richter and Karajan agreed not to show off the work as pure virtuoso piece, but also to bring the musical content of the concert due to advantage. That's them an outstanding success. Never one has heard the concert so profound and so sovereign pianistic simultaneously. There may be more virtuosic interpretations of the concert, but there is nothing that is to make this brilliant play from the page. To simplify matters, one could be admitted as a synthesis of the historical versions of Sherkassky / Ludwig (DGG) and Horowitz / Toscanini (RCA), respectively. One can be thankful the DGG, that unites both works on a CD and carefully in the meritorious series "The Originals" revised again has made available. The recordings of April 1959 (Rachmaninov) and September 1962 (Tchaikovsky) sound fresh and new as the day, the stereo effect is impressive. Launched by the record company so vaunted "original Image bit Processing" appears to be not an empty publicity stunt. The booklet is very detailed and is endless.
