Let It Bleed (Audio CD)

Customer Review

"Let It Bleed" ekes strangely enough in the series of best Stones album something of a wallflower. When asked about the best albums of the Stones, comes in great regularity reply "Exile On Main Street" or "Beggars Banquet," perhaps "Sticky Fingers", just "Let It Bleed" is rare in response.

Okay, at this time the Stones played a really a hammer after another, so that a choice is very difficult. Nevertheless, "Let It Bleed" for me the album that among the monsters "Beggars Banquet" and "Exile .." is still sticking a tiny piece.

It begins with "Gimme Shelter" (which sometimes misspelling "gimmie" me still upset) that increases in a small, quiet guitar playing in a true union Wall Of Sound, on the Phil Spector must have been envious. This hurricane comes to a head in the shrill complaints "Rape, Murder It's Just A Shot Away", only to end with the calm balancing "Love, Sister, It's Just A Kiss Away". A simpler and more accurate statement that war can be prevented by love, it has rarely given.

After this spectacular start, the Stones shut down fully to "Love In Vain" lie down with the cover so a moody black and blues, as well as were able to it only white band in this intensity.

The Stones and especially Keith Richards were at that time very much influenced by Gram Parsons, a musician of the Flying Burrito Brothers, a country band. The result could be heard at "Country Honk", the only song the Stones, which is available in two official releases. The other version was much rockier single "Honky Tonk Women", today a model of musical economy.

"Live With Me" is the fastest song of the record, driven by a pumping bass, which was exceptional plays by Keith and topped by a saxophone of Bobby Keyes.

The title song is a midtempo rockers therefore, a song full of love with the typical personalities of the Stones: "And There Will Always Be A Space In My Parking Lot When You Need A Little Coke and Sympathy". The "Parking Lot" is a metaphor for a - Ahem - organ in the lower regions of the body of a woman and "Coke" has certainly nothing to do here with Coke.

The Tour De Force of the plate is undoubtedly (similar to "Sympathy for the Devil" on "Beggars Banquet") "Midnight Rambler", which textually from the "Boston Strangler" Albert Di Salvo, a Strangler (Tony Curtis skillfully even surprising a film represented), was affected. The musical realization is huge. This time driven by Bill Wyman bass, the song rises into pure madness, in which Mick Jagger played perhaps the best harmonica of his life.

Just as for "Gimme Shelter" turn the Stones several transitions back to play with "You Got The Silver" the first piece in which Keith for the first time completely took over the lead vocals (In "Salt of the Earth" on "Beggars .. "he had already sung the input line). "You Got The Silver" is a pearl, one of the best songs they have ever recorded.

"Monkey Man" is one of the most underrated songs of Stones, although they put something like their creed here: "I Hope We're Not Too Messianic Or A Trifle Too Satanic (a direct allusion to" Sympathy for the Devil "), We Love To Play The Blues ".

"You Can not Always Get What You Want" is the only song of the record, the text of which I do not fully get it, maybe he is about resignation. Here the Stones have collaborated with the London Bach Choir and as the record sounds from monumental.

"Let It Bleed" was the album where Brian Jones can be heard for the last time, but his last musical convulsions. Mick Taylor is the first time doing such. As described in the "Country Honk".

It is possible that "Let It Bleed" the errors that it has been published by "Beggars Banquet" and therefore always something standing in its shadow. If the two plates appeared as DoppelLP, it would have been the best DoppelLP of rock.
