This bloody four-day adventure uses direct reports and testimonies of the time and faithfully reflects the horrors of this tragedy. Many inserts provide a very useful insight: shots of Betio island and the airport, fighting schemes, description of the aircraft and other equipment, vintage photos, etc. Despite the harshness of the story, this comic can be read by children because it only reflects the atrocities of war, without adding, and is full of humanity. The line drawing and the clear picture does not make it scary.
This album brings together 88 pages actually two BD and thus covers the complete cycle of this story. It is in my opinion a perfect example of the art of Charlier and Hubinon and fans of World War II should enjoy it.
