The Device:
The bubbler is well made, has nowhere sharp edges and is thanks to the good center of gravity of the metal cylinder firmly in place. A wobbling or unintentional tilting is excluded. That our device shows no flaws after now 16 years, speaks for the quality (at least for the former production series).
Consumption:
Consumption is of course Subject of person wants as much or as little carbon dioxide have in his water. Officially advertises SodaStream with 50-60 liters, which should correspond to the normal consumption. Since we do not like quite as much carbon dioxide itself, we arrive at about 65-70 liters per cylinder. If the water is intended for mixing with juices, we press 3 times short, rarely even 4 times. For PUR water we just press twice. My parents even requiring only one "shot". For normal and Little bubbler the SodaStream therefore profitable in any case. Extremely bubbler who want much carbon dioxide in their water, however, are having trouble getting to the indicated 50-60 liters.
Syrup:
With lemon syrup you get a good alternative to commercial lemonade, with the sugar or sweetener content is quite high. Mixed as cyclists we like it best. Only the beer you have to buy yet ;-)
Use of the syrup:
It is important that you follow the instructions and first springing up the water before it is added to the syrup. This should be lightly into running at the edge of the bottle, so do not simply pour into it. Otherwise, there is a small flood in the kitchen ;-)
Exchange-cylinder:
The cylinder can be exchanged easily in shops (eg Kaufland, Saturn). A refill costs us 7,99 euro and is probably the standard price be.
Bottles:
The bottles should be used according to the manufacturer only 18 months, as they could burst at any effervescence and senility due to the high pressure. We usually use 2-3 years to bubble and then another 2 years at mixing our juices. Regular washing is understood by itself for reasons of hygiene! The more carbon dioxide is used, the greater course of pressure in the bottle. In our bubble behavior described above, however, not a single bottle has burst in all these years, still are any cracks or signs of aging occurred.
Conclusion:
Even if you have to take into account the cost, then the SodaStream has been with us more than worthwhile. Anyone who lives in an area with good tap water, making it well-advised to all cases. For us, it was certainly a buying decision we have repented at any time. Thus, a strong buy recommendation!
