Processing: and Optics:
The housing is made of aluminum and two covers (top and bottom) made of chromed metal (steel I suspect). The uniform coating of the carrier has a slightly rough finish and is very high quality. The inset in the front buttons are the same color as the housing and work very well, but they have a little too much play and rattle a little (but which really is not noticeable in normal operation). Not quite as nice as the display is not flush with the housing.
From a processing perspective, I was pleasantly surprised. Everything fits together neatly and also the board of control is meticulously crafted. I would also like to mention here the perfectly fitting USB port and the acquired stainless steel threads for 510. At the places you will surely have no problems in the long term.
Apparently Smok has paid attention to the criticism by some users and redesigned the base plate. The chrome plating was doing from time to time problems and led to contact problems. For me, the battery connection was not chrome (which had to be sanded before) and thus bypassed an additional transition resistance.
Not really succeeded, I found the battery change per se. The screws are very small and therefore not as easy to use. Also I love the combination of stainless steel screws to the aluminum thread of the housing a little worried. Since one must it with the tightening of the screws do not overdo it, otherwise there is a danger of damaging the threads.
However, a frequent change of batteries yes not even necessary because you can recharge it via the USB port. I see the M65 rather than device to which the owner has the option to replace the battery when he is eventually broken.
Feel and size:
The device can be easily described as the hand. It is very good in the hand and the surface is also pleasant. The buttons have a good position and are protected due to the depression, from being accidentally pressed.
Due to the size I was not really sure whether the device is good 'fit' in the hand before buying. But there is one for (former) smoking fairly easy comparison. It is about twice as wide and twice as thick as a normal disposable lighter. ;)
Accessories:
In addition to the battery carrier you can still find some accessories in the box. Four spare screws (who like to fly), an Allen wrench, an adapter for ego-threaded, a replacement fire button made of rubber, and a 30 cm long USB charger cable.
There is no battery included and must be ordered separately to evaporation can. Recommendations for good batteries can be found in the next section.
Batteries:
This battery carrier should only be used with high-quality batteries and I would strongly the Sony or Samsung Konion 25R recommend (I could already test at home).
Other Batteries (ie what the little amp to deliver) can cause problems. This is especially true if you have a moment of popular sub-ohm evaporator (such as the Eleaf MELO or Lemo 2) wants to use.
Particular attention must the battery in steamers have the wish to operate the evaporator with high wattages. Almost all battery break this (ie from 45-50 watts) away and only the Sony has allowed for such a load stable operation. For all other users, a Samsung 25R is completely sufficient and is very reliable.
Watt Volt her about my Ohm:
The resistance of the evaporator and the voltage you have to worry about with this device. This is managed automatically by the electronics and the display.
Of interest are primarily the adjustable watts the appliance. It depends both on the liquid and the evaporator from whether you need more or less watts. The liquids can be quite rewarding times 1-2 watts more or less to take the steam behavior for its own needs.
Most importantly, the evaporator itself. At Kanger Evod (1.8 ohm) should get a good result at 6-7 watts, but it looks at Melo 'something' different. Then you should start at about 10-12 watts and then go up to it 'fits'. According to the manufacturer should we have the best score at 20-30 watts, for myself was the 'sweet spot', depending on the liquid, but at 12-14 watts.
TL / DR:
Visually appealing battery carrier which can be equipped with a variety of evaporators. He sits comfortably in the hand and is, due to the USB port and its pass-through function, always ready for use.
Buy recommendation!
Tips and Tricks:
1. Although it is a bit 'tricky': use four screws in the floor and pulls them only slightly. So you spread the load (the battery is indeed sprung) more evenly and protects the thread of the housing.
2. Watch out for possibly occurring Liquid leaks of the evaporator. Although the lid is very accurate in the case but it could get in Liquid and damage the electronics when using this equipment.
3. Stop when refilling a small cloth for the chrome parts ready. We see every fingerprint on the cover ...)
4. Experiment with the wattage. So you can adjust the steam behavior to their own ideas and this one has finally bought a regulated battery carrier. ;)
