What need is that?

I was allowed to borrow as PRler an iPad for a couple of days.
I find this device ever actually quite nice.
In conjunction with Bluetooth keyboard and headset it is (almost always) useful Surf terminal for home.
Quick Googling something, quick, quick to leave a date Save a message.
The touch screen is indeed accurate but, like on a keyboard you can not work with yet.

What I have tested as first whether Bluetooth streaming finally working synchronously and without interruption. Still not doing it. The same quirks as the iPhone. Some video podcasts a time offset to the sound when the headset / Bluetooth stereo should be noted. When streaming to stereo There are also over and over again annoying dropouts. Apple pushes the problem to the editor of the podcast, the coding would not fit. For the problem with MP3 / web radio stream but this does not explain Mr. Jobs! (Even my high-quality 150 EUR Bluetooth Headset loses power after very few meters (2-3) in a straight line to connect! But had to try not to second hand around the again.)

The display is large enough to read it. The brightness can be infinitely and also extremely bright set. So reflections are outshone in the glossy display even when using the free yet. It disturbed me doing that quickly forms but quite a "Grabbelfilm" by finger grease on the display. After just 30 minutes surfing it looks as if you have eaten in passing a pizza with cheese neatly. The margin is too narrow as could the 700g heavy equipment keep it all the time relaxed. Good: A black / white mode is available, it relaxes the eyes.

The 1024x768 resolution is suitable for most Web applications, apart from photo galleries and overloaded pages, very useful. The browser can but no Flash and no Java and there are also some pages with framesets some problems. So I could not scroll with longer sides with typical frameset. (Can also a failure of the web developers have, in IE 8, Sleipnir and Firefox 3.6.x (incl. Debug mode) but it comes easily.)

Multimedia particular video even HD Ready but not full HD, can play the iPad. Like the iPhone, the iPad with the times while slightly warmer but not too hot. Apps: Correct iPad apps that take advantage of the opportunities useful advantage, there are not many. A few games, a few magazines, etc. But you can use apps from other I-devices. After 2 days iPad, even in bed, in the kitchen and on the living room my one thought is especially come again: Velcro so you can be the thing somewhere attach to the body. Whether one now cooks for Internet recipe or quickly what needs erbrowsen on the phone. Never is just a safer and cleaner place for the iPad since. Since it is so thin I also feel it all the time / can must not touch firmly. (PS: One-handed use is not always feasible, depends on the pad down on the glass table it was very annoying..)

The question is: What do you really need the iPad. It is a nice gimmick, but it can not really replace for me Smartphone and labtop. Lying on the beach and read iPad, I would make only the private beach. If the netbook for 200 stones away is ... ok that you can sometimes just be replaced ... but the 32Gb iPad currently costs just as much as a mid-range notebook. (According to the technical specifications may be it not at the beach, use the ski areas or on the plane!) As a digital photo frame and eBook reader is me privately too expensive.
