The problem: Even in the basement, to say, both the living room and in the garden, the wireless signal of the Fritz router usually is not enough to send a strong signal permanently, which makes it easy surfing via WLAN.
First Step:
I got me a stronger antenna from the accessories trade, to connect them to the Fritz router. The result was disappointing - it was no use, so absolutely no improvement in terms of signal strength.
Second Step:
An AVM Fritz Repeater it should be. This small, inconspicuous part is simply inserted halfway between the router and the basement into the socket to forward the signal from there. This worked pretty well, but the speed was rapid after - clearly, the thing also communicates with yes "both sides". Exchanged.
Before 1h hour I gave Hermes the "Asus-cigarette". First impression: How does it work? Time just 50 grams, no visible antenna, etc.!
Now, an hour later, it is already configured as an access point (child's play) and does its job in the basement. What should I write? This mite is under the sofa and no matter where in the house / garden / floor I am staying, the signal is everywhere very good to excellent. I did not expect.
Anyway the Asus succeeded: transmission power superior, user interface (accessed via IP) model, installation done as AP in 10 minutes - long story short, I'm thrilled.
If it now also renders its service reliably ... a strong buy recommendation with no ifs and buts.
