The hearing by a new McCartney album includes more or less unconsciously - the comparison with past exploits, they were his contributions to the Beatles, with Wings (where most of the material anyway came from McCartney himself) or solo. Since 1970, the multi-instrumentalist has released many albums that may exist due to compositional master class, sophisticated arrangements, good production and catchy melodies even today. As an example may be mentioned in the Dirt and Chaos and Creation in the Backyard only Ram, Band on the Run, Tug of War, Flowers. After the rather average Off the Ground (1993) there was no undue studio album more, the quality curve steadily went up and stayed recently at a high level. The more tense I was on the new plant, but since appeared Memory Almost Full (2007) no new album with original songs throughout, apart from the public under the pseudonym Fireman CD once. But New has initially disappointed me: three to four good songs, the rest seemed little memorable to me. But at the latest after the third pass, I know that I have the album done wrong. Once again pulls out all the stops here McCartney also his musical abilities. Although self-citations are uncommon, some one has something like this already heard in another of his songs, but a pure self-plagiarism is not there. Of different styles and ingredients to McCartney is using four different producers a musical grocery store together, where it is never boring. Rockiges (Save Us, alligator) alternates with quiet, self-reflective pieces (Early Days, Hosanna); Psychedelic Blues (Road) follows Beatles reminiscences (On My Way to Work, New) on experimental songs (Appreciate) and much more. In hidden bonus track McCartney delivers with sparse instrumentation again one of his timeless ballads in the style of "Blackbird" and showing that he is still the master of this art.
