Hardly any of his other soundtracks has many different style directions like his 3rd Potter score!
Opens "Prisoner of Azkaban" with Track 1 "Lumos" with the famous "Hedwig's Theme", it comes with "Aunt Marge's Waltz" (how's the title suggests) with a quite "lively" Waltzer further, just to the listener with the subsequent quirlligen and completely wacky "The Knight Bus" to surprise (particularly awesome as Williams here light jazz bonds installs).
This is followed with horror "Apparition on the Train" - the theme of the Nazgul ... er, I mean the Dementors. With "Double Trouble" is the first time one of the two main themes of the film a by the school choir of Hogwarts Performed the song. This piece takes place as a big red guide you through the rest soundtrack.
Again Another highlight is "Buckbeak's Flight" is. Very nice, lofty theme. After the incredibly beautiful, second main theme of the film follows: "A Window to the Past"
This is one of the finest routing issues throughout the saga. Let the dream a gentle, melancholy bargain sounding flute.
The rest of the score is also further characterized by variety and inventiveness. From medieval passages like "Hagrid the Professor", of dark and mystic "Secrets of the Castle" bishin to the brutal action pieces like "The Whomping Willow" or "Quidditch, Thrid Year", and more! Especially the strong percussion use surprise and heaves Williams all the work to a new level.
Also especially track 18 should be emphasized: Here the turning back of time is musically reproduced what is very successful! But unfortunately, this track runs just a bit in the sand ...
Also interesting is ultimately the three-part finale. Basically, you first listen to two very similar pieces, also in turn result of time travel plots. Main focal point here is the "Window to the Past" theme.
Here, the first track to listen to much darker, while the subsequent piece sounds more powerful light and in his own way.
"Mischief Managed" the whole album decides ultimately. Very nice here: Williams leaves again as small reminiscence the naughty "students" theme from the predecessors anstimmen- and had such a little goose bumps effect on me, which in turn shows that the almost overwhelming absence of familiar topics does the soundtrack very good! In the latter track also again almost all the relevant themes of the scores to be played.
Conclusion:
Williams cited not too much of already known, and he had already done to satisfy the predecessor. The few confidants what is heard comes in a new look sound. Fortunately, you can in this case because say- especially the new material is simply awesome benign in many ways even better than most of the previous issues (which is now entirely my own opinion). Here, too, the old master with his new subjects varies like crazy. It is after all still Harry Potter. Only a new chapter is just musically aufgeschlagen- and that's a good thing! The result is a completely magical soundtrack and even those who do not like Potter should a listen at least as a film music fan trust times. You will not be disappointed.
