The idea is original and interesting FINKIELKRAUT. Through a number of novels considered major works and reference, the author demonstrates the undeniable contribution of the Romanesque style in philosophical reflection. If the traditional philosophical essay, by merely a functional analysis of concepts, is sometimes too dry, the novel has the advantage of integrating these philosophical elements in the heart of the lives of men. It is the combination of rational intelligence and emotional intelligence. This is the concept of understanding heart that contitué somehow unique to the novel. I regretted, however, in this book sometimes too sophisticated style of the author which makes understanding its sometimes hard thinking. The author demonstrates the undeniable contribution of the novel in philosophical reflection but unfortunately it often Tombre into the trap of an arid style, complex and pretentious that are found regularly in philosophical essays. I have a feeling that FINKIELKRAUT fell into the trap of what he rightly denounces. A more airy style, more "romantic" more poetic would have given more depth to the argument developed in this book.
