The Nokia N8 with integrated navigation is actually sufficient to navigate from A to B. Unfortunately, my N8 is currently broken and I decided to order my Navigon 92 Premium.
My first impression:
When I unpacked the Navi came first to disillusionment. In addition to the N8 I still have a iPad2. The Navi here against feels like a toy. Relatively easily, the front with the real glass rimmed black high gloss and chrome frame looks wertig from the rest of the case is also processed wertig, but plastic. All in one package with the weight, it works compared to iPad, iPhone or N8 cheap. In my opinion.
The inner Werten.Nach the facility and the briefing, I quickly came to terms with the operation. The configuration options are extensive. The map view and particularly the PIOs looks nice. The whole concept seems coherent. On my current location in the Saarland I was in the building, at the window, but only a max. find two satellite and do not use the GPS. Outside in the parking lot I had 6 satellite. This went quite quickly. Entering the zieladrese worked well. The voice input is used to. The Bluetooth connection to the N8 worked fine in a few seconds I had transferred the phone book to the navigation system. Navigating to a contact works directly through the phone book of NAVIGON. With coupled cell phone you can call via the Navi also directly contact and leave the hand in his pocket. Which to my knowledge is not going to be the voice tag of a contact. At first I would have to search (without having read the manual) as I can scroll the map mark a point for me there can be added to navigate, but he who seeks finds. Even the work and I can navigate directly to the cinema. Also I had to call them and let cover maps etc. Address and phone stored in POI. Navigon MyRoutes gave me here 3 routes to choose from. All voices, but not much new, because that can also my N8 and the free apps for it and for the iPad as well. But it looks so far everything from harmonious and beautiful. TMC Traffic Info goose with angeschlossem Car Charger also quite fast.
As I said, I am not yet navigated with the Navigon.
The gesture control works, although this is said to have improved, there is here in my opinion strongly verbessungsbedarf. My N8 is already not the fastest, but the clods the map eg here still is liquid and soft. The Navigon hakelt here my opinion yet. That should go better. Likewise, I would have expected a multi-touch, for example, to zoom on the map. If someone has an iPhone or iPad, or another pad or smartphone, which reacts similarly liquid will be disappointed here.
One shortcoming which I have never understood why I need to at Navigon, TomTom, etc. After a certain running time again to pay money for services or latest maps. I've got not so the overview of the market, but Nokia Maps is a lifetime for free. I have here spurassi accurate, traffic information, speed limit warning, etc. in it.
This my first impression of a certain good Navis. Point deduction because of the plastic, the cost (after 2 years) for new cards and some not quite coherent gesture control.
