First, the diversity of the repertoire is striking. Brecht (wonderfully vulnerable: "Marie A." live at youtube) and Hollaender not really surprising considering its close links with the Berliner Ensemble. Also German versions of French Chansons by Barbara, Piaf, among others fit into the picture. That it is, however, been able to find even with current song poets like Sven Regener and Sophie Hunger, proves its unschematic openness. And with the Heideröslein by Schubert and "All Souls" by Hermann von Gilm classics are eventually going - not in order to draw attention to their professional vocal training (which she enjoyed without question), but also because these roots belong to it. Not a fashion show of styles, a change of masks and costumes can be admired here, but an unvarnished illuminate various facets of human feeling and being. Naivety, devotion, sincerity ...: the entire spectrum.
That this honest portrait succeeds so Plush free, is not least the instinct of experienced theater pianist Adam Benzwi (and the touches of color from violin, accordion and bass) to thank.
