Owl City's style is, as surely all know, an unmistakable mix of synth pop, electronic, distorted voices, soft sounds and beautiful lyrics. And it shows on this CD. Singer and songwriter Adam Young shows again his skills, lives out his fantasy and his talent and lets the listeners always come back speechless. The melodies are just too beautiful, the lyrics simple enough mainstream and the electronics too well embedded. It always fascinates me when there actually still really create good artists to emerge on the music market - and if they then hold still as grand and evolve like Owl City and is still respected, then skin me almost. If you consider that probably heard at least half of music listeners just pop and charts, that's surprising.
In All Things Bright and Beautiful to Owl City invents nothing new, you might say, some songs sound like on Ocean Eyes. Many will disturb the well, but still, each song has its peculiarity: violins in the background, co-singer Breanne Düren or completely new, even louder parts. Knew you Adam Youngs voice from previous album quietly and gently, so he is here sometimes more urgent, puts more feeling in his voice and calls what moves him, the audience meet. This is especially noticeable in "Angels" and "Kamikaze" where it fits terrific.
Although this album has almost exclusively good sites, so there is still something to complain about: The extreme electrical distortion of Breanne Düren voice in "Honey and the Bee". Without this quitschige and annoying female voice from a great song would have been, but it is the latest after three times listening to disengagement. The croaking here unfortunately failed and could have been left out quietly.
Otherwise, the new record by Owl City is but a really worthy successor. Once again I was able to quickly arrive me wonderfully in the music and dream with us, was able to sing, to dance and relax - that creates the band simply always and for my fullest respect. I hope for many more albums and will now try to persuade anyone to go with me to the concert in Cologne.
