In detail:
The Sony MDR EX 500 LP:
Very nice full, round, "juicy" sound with very good space. Now used it for several years and am still fully satisfied. Bathtub setting - centers are withdrawn something nice slimmer and deeper bass. Not so in high resolution / detail that characterize the 700 or 1000. But it's fun to listen to him, he is very playful. He's my price performance winner for the unbeatable price!
The Sony MDR EX 510 LP:
Against the predecessor, the 500, the 510 has lost my mind clear. The bathtubs setting was removed again - the centers are now more present. For me to present. The spaciousness of the 500 is lost thereby. The bass is not quite as deep as in the 500s. Still somewhat finer than the 500 resolved. Overall, however, not so "round" as the 500, not as playful. For me, in this comparison, the clear loser!
The Sony MDR EX 600 LP:
First impression: nice and loud and punchy (top) Bass. Unfortunately, not quite as deep as the 500 but much more level. He is loud. Again, the bath-setting was removed again. Finely resolved highs and powerful middle - the middle but overemphasized overall in my opinion. Thus, the space is lost. Cable is placed over the ear - to get used to.
The Sony MDR EX 700 LP:
The loudest of them all! Very detailed with good, punchy (pounding) + crisp bass. Again a slight bathtubs setting but the centers remain very differentiated. However, the Schäche: the heights! You are in the higher frequency range significantly shrill and distorted - which is a clear drawback and interfere significantly with some music tracks. But the powerful bass + root is unique - I've so been in the form nor in any ear, not the 1000s. He really is extremely loud so it almost a weghaut eardrums (and I hear myself very much loud)! This handset is highly recommended and does everything right, if there were not the shrill treble. Who does not bother: strong buy recommendation!
The Sony MDR EX 1000 LP:
The most detailed of all! Fine-resolution and "airy" sound. Not as noisy as the 700 and a little less bass, but the bass is very rangy. Overall, very balanced and harmonious with beautiful heights. No frequency is overemphasized - it is the unadulterated sounds again. All frequencies very balanced, expressive detail - could not be better in my opinion. In addition, very playful. Unfortunately, even here the cable is guided over the ears (which is a clear disadvantage for me, maybe I have to just get used to it). He closes his earpiece from not quite - but sitting still quite good.
For me it was really, in particular between the 700s and the 1000s, a difficult decision. I would like to keep both, but then decided to have me in the end of the 1000s, although it has slightly less (perhaps "normal", non-stressed) Bass, but the heights + centers are a dream. The 500 I have in reserve. For bargain hunters there is no alternative for the price. For the price of 500 is still unbeatable. But I will now only times to perform the "endurance test" with the 1000s.
I hope I've helped some with this comparison.
