I personally test the cardboard on my mobile (Samsung Galaxy s5) and there were no problems!
The only thing (that does not come directly from google) is that the developer is still low to achieve good game or application with the cardboard but there is already good games I assure you like "DiveCityCoaster" which is pretty funny!
